Busy, Busy

Well, it is has been a long time since the last post! Things are very busy around our house. I think the best way to catch you up is just start a list.
  1. First of all, our family opened a new store. Mark and my brother opened a video game store on Labor Day. It is called PlayNTrade. So far so good. Things seem to be going well. We need to do some advertising, but without much advertising, we have had a lot of people in the store. It is actually a pretty cool store. If you are into video games at all, they carry all kinds (even back to Atari..it is worth it for the trip down memory lane). You can play all games before you buy them...so no more games that you end up hating. It is pretty cool. They are about to host their first tournament in Oct. So that should be fun. I did help them out on the first day. I was exhausted. I am glad it is finally open.
  2. My mom and dad have moved to town. They live about 25 min away from me, not too bad, I wish they are a bit closer. They seem to like their house, but having some problems downsizing. (basically too much junk over the last 40 years!)

  3. Dylan gets to spend 3 days a week with his Nana. He really seems to enjoy it. I know that Nana just loves it! If you tell him he is going to Nana's house, he just says nana nana nana. He really loves his Nana and Papa. He is happy to see them and I think he is understanding that they are family. I sure it helps that they totally spoil him rotten! So he has changed sitters once again...but this time....he didn't have to adjust to this one..he loves it.

  4. Dylan has started school! No kidding...my baby is in school. He goes to the school at our church 2 days a week. It hasn't been that easy on the poor boy. First week, Mama took off and tried to soften the blow, but he is still struggling a bit. He cries when he is dropped off, but his teachers says he does pretty well during class. He doesn't like changing rooms. They move to another room for "music time". It has caused some anxiety in the poor boy, but he is slowly adjusting.

  5. We went to the doctor last week and Dylan has been referred to a speech therapist for evaluation. We don't go until October, wish it was earlier, but the referral service checked around with several therapist and this was the earliest appointment we could get. I do still think there is a slight problem with his speech. He is trying to say more words, but he still sounds like there is some sort of delay or something. We are up to about 10-12 words now. He does make some letter sounds. You should hear him spell his name forwards...and yes....backwards! I didn't teach that to him...he just does it.
  6. Dylan has turned in to a climber. He likes to climb up ladders (if you aren't watching). He actually climbed into my dryer one day while I was putting clothes in the washer and hanging up clothes on the rack. My back was only turned for a second and he looked at me like.....WHAT? What's your problem? He likes to climb on top of our coffee table and lay on his back, or stand on top and jump. Of course all of this is accomplished while your back in turned!

  7. My mom is convinced he has an invisible friend (or Monkey's Pam!...if you are reading this you know what she means). He is funny, he will be on my bed or her bed playing talking to himself. You can hear an occasional word. If you try to go in there...he gets mad and wants you to leave. He just sits there playing...no toys are anything. So maybe she is right. So for those of you scratching your heads right now...apparently.....little fact about me...I had invisible monkey friends as a kid.
  8. We go through phases of eating. Sometimes he will eat like a horse, then some days....all he wants is pretzels or chips. He still a very stubborn child, we still have our little "stand-offs". Neither one of us get our way. He is up to 22lbs. Clothes are a challenge. Thanks to Kerrie, she old me about some pants at Target that have adjustable waist for under 2 T, so we finally have some pants that fit him well. He is in 18 mos pants and they can adjust down small enough for his waist. I was wondering how we were going to make it through winter....Yea....Cherokee (or whatever brand they were).
  9. He recently saw his buddies Zak and Cole. He is finally getting to the point where he doesn't scream everytime we go to visit someone. He even went up to Kerrie and Kathryn without any crying or anything. He even let Zak and Cole be around him without being upset. So, we are making progress. He is still attached to me like glue, but getting better at being around other people. I think sometimes when I tell him what is going on, he understands me. You can see the seriousness on his face, he is thinking about what I am saying. (At least that is what I tell myself).

  10. We haven't actually started potty training. We are talking about it and have brought out the little potty. Everytime I am in the bathroom, he will sit on the potty, so he is starting to get the idea. Of course when he stands up, he knocks it over...so I might need to look into some other kind of potty...that could be a real mess.

There are probably major things I am leaving out. Life for me is pretty much the same. I still go to work and has it always is...begining of the school year is really rough. Seems especially worse this year, but probably just the same. Maybe one day when Mark builds the store into "Dylan's Empire" as he calls it...I can quit! I will try to post more often....but seeing as I am now a big facebook addict, don't hold your breath. (besides...there probably isn't anyone reading this anymore, you all have probably given up.).

I haven't given up! Even though I'm extremely behind in blog reading :)

Love to hear updates on Dylan. He's such a doll! Phoebe had her first speech therapy play date today and it went well. I'm sure Dylan will come along nicely once he gets used to the new place/situation. Phoebe is that same way - she hates new things unless it's her idea!
