Changes, Changes, and More Changes

Well, there has been a lot going on in the past month. Guess I should start with Dylan's birthday party. He had a great time. It was postponed because of the Vietnam Heritage Weekend. We had his buddies over, and they swam and played in the sprinklers. He enjoyed eating cake and ice cream on his new picnic table. Of course his buddies Cole and Zak were there, they all seemed to have a great time. We also invited his friends Catherine and Caroline...and of course Dylan can't have a birthday without some family (and substitute family the L's). We used a Super Why theme which is hard to do without SuperWhy stuff anywhere. So we improvised. Not bad if I do say so myself. And thanks to the cake lady at Crest, we pulled it off!

After that was the 4th of July. We celebrated the 4th of July at a friend's house. We of course had a cookout, with swimming and hanging out with friends. Then went to Edmond to one of the "top 10 fireworks in the country.". At least that is how it is advertised.
Don't get me wrong, it was a great show! Probably up there with one of the best 10 I have ever seen. It was a beautiful evening, it was cool and we had a great spot out on the lawn of the college. We of course had glow necklaces and bracelets and Dylan loved the fireworks. They were HUGE and looked like they were going to hit you in the face. He clapped and pointed at them.
But, the trouble hit...when we headed home. I do believe it took us almost 2 hours to make it home. CRAZY. They didn't have any cops directing traffic, it was just a free for all. Dylan was over-exhausted and since turning 2, we have learned if you get over-exhausted or over stimulated...that is not good for anyone! He started screaming and screamed the whole way home. So we ended on a very rough note!

The preschool/school kids at church took a trip to Pump It Up. Very fun place. It is full of HUGE inflatables for all ages. (Serious about the ALL ages). Of course, my child would not get on anything unless mama went with him. Once he realized that it was a lot of fun to jump on (these huge things that feel like walking in bread dough), he loved it! He played and jumped and ran around like crazy. It was a lot of fun.

There was this huge slide that I swear had to be about 20 feet tall. Walking up it was like walking up huge piles of dough. Your legs get all wobbly and by the time you are at the top, you just flop down on your face and feel like you can't walk any more. Then you finally drag your huge butt over to the slide part and it is slicker than (sorry it just has to be said) snot. You slide down it knowing that you are going to go flying off the end and land hard. All this to say, I insisted that I was not going down the slide. I had him slide with the kids, with Ms. K, with Mr. Y, but he insisted I go with him (by insisted, I mean whine and cry). Well, seeing as I was able to describe the slide so well, you know what happened. I dragged my big butt up the huge slide and we slid down together. He just laughed and laughed. Thank GOD no one took a picture of us! Of course it was quite the sight. I mean...the things we do for our children!

Other than that, we have been enjoying the summer...that is until the last 2 weeks where it has been too hot to even climb in and out of your car. I have taken off days here and there throughout the summer. We are still loving our house. The flowers are gorgeous. I should probably post them of evidence that at one time we did have a beautiful bed of flowers. Dylan is still not saying too much, but lately he has been trying to make letter sounds and trying to say some new words. So, maybe by the time we go to the doctor's appt in Sept, he will be talking (yeah, right). He is a little mess. He has been eating his food like Cookie Monster. We are trying to fix that problem right now. He has given up his fork and spoon and only eats with his hands. This once neat eater is now a messy eater.

He loves to play in his sand box and he likes to play in water too. When we mix the two, that is a real problem. He will lay down in the sandbox and roll around like a cat. I am still cleaning sand out of the ears! We went to the ear doctor this week, everything looks good. I am now a huge believer and supporting of tubes if your kid has problems with ear infections. This is the healthiest he has been since we brought him home last May.

So, if you have made it this far in this post, then you might be wondering...where did she get the title changes? Well, here is the changes part. Dylan's second family who has kept him while I worked and now quitting. Dylan is a bit to busy now for her to home school her kids. There are other factors, but that is the short version. We were very sad, but we have found someone at church who is going to keep him. Plus, he is starting Mother's Day Out (preschool) this fall. We thought it would be good for him to be around other small children. The shop is still scheduled to open as we predicted around Sept 1 or a little earlier. My house is a virtual fun house with all the games, games systems and junk we have. We have played so many games, that I think I may be "gamed" out. My dear friend is moving to Mississippi. I am very sad. She leaves this week. I am going to miss her. Plus, things are looking up for my parents selling their house. They have had more, and more people looking at their house, so maybe someone will be interested very soon.
I guess that pretty much catches you up. I guess I should post more often so that these don't turn into novels instead of simple updates!
