...it has been way too long since my last post. As you all know, a one year old can keep you very busy! Let's catch up from where we left off. Halloween was so much fun. We did the trunk or treat at our church. Dylan really enjoyed himself. It wasn't the games, or the candy, he loved being dressed up. He thought it was funny. We had this on a Sunday night, so we were not going to do the actual door to door on Halloween. Well, on Halloween night, he loved going to the door and answering it. But he saw all the kids in costumes and he wanted to go out too. So we put his costume on (Curious George!) and he took off down the driveway. We only took him to our neighbors (2 hours), but he loved it! He would just run up to the door, knock on it, and just smile a BIG cheesy smile. He just wanted them to tell him how cute he was...he didn't want candy.
On November 11, we reached our 6mo home! Sometimes it seems like it goes so fast, but at other times it feels like he has always been with us. I think back to 1 year ago (we got our refereral in Nov of last year). So much has changed. I remember the first time I saw his beautiful face. I fell in love with him. But now.....it is just so much more. He has blessed our lives in ways we never even dreamed of. We have started the re-finalization of the adoption. The papers should be filed in the next week and hopefully we have a court date in December. It will be nice to have his name officially changed and the new birth certificate in hand. Then we can look forward to the NICE tax break!
This past couple of weeks have been tough in the adoption world. There is a lot of negative press about international adoptions...specifically from Vietnam. It just breaks my heart. Please pray that our governments will work out all the issues and not shut down the program. Pray they will investigate the provinces and agencies that are not behaving ethically, and not punish the many that are reputable. Adoption is a wonderful thing and for those that know Dylan's story, adoption saved his life. I will forever hold a special place in my heart for the loving woman that saved him.
We head to California next week to spend Thanksgiving with Mark's family. It will be the first time for many of them to meet Dylan. It should be interesting on the plane! He did well on the long flight six months ago, but he was not mobile. Now, he does not like to sit still. So we will see. This mommy is dreading it...BIG TIME!
On a side note, a couple of months ago, Dylan was referred to a neurologist. We were told they heard a bruie (sp?) it is a whoosh, whoosh sound in the head (heard through a stethescope). Now the doctor did not seem excited or overly concerned, and the appointment was set over 2 months out, but it was still scary to us. Well, we had the appointment today and all is well! Praise GOD our son is healthy, happy, and progressing well. The doctor said he is a normal, healthy boy. So we are very happy with that news. (of course I could have told you that!) While he is healthy, he does have an ear infection so we are starting to get into a better mood. Last week, he was a bear. Well, I will leave you with a few pictures. Enjoy.

Wow! He is getting so big!!
I know it is hard to keep up the blog, but I appreciate seeing your updates.
Rejoicing with you on Dylan's clean bill of health and re-finalization!
We love seeing new pictures of Dylan. Chris just thinks he is the cutest little dude.
I'm so glad Dylan got a great checkup. I'm sure that was a huge relief for you both.
I'm so glad to hear that Dylan is doing well and is healthy! I just love the monkey costume, and it cracks me up that he enjoyed it so much! My Parker wore the same one 2 Halloweens ago and I was so sad when he outgrew it. Enjoy your trip, and I'll pray that the flights aren't as bad as you're anticipating.
Great post and he is the cutest monkey I have ever seen!! Enjoy the holidays!!
