Well, we had an interesting Thanksgiving. We took our first trip to California. Dylan did very well. As long as he had Elmo, he was happy as can be. We bribed him with cookies during the "please turn off all personal electronic devices". He was also labeled the plane greeter. Since we were some of the first people on the plane...and thanks to my husbands frequent flyer status, we had seats at the front of the plane, everyone that walked on, he said Hi too. It was so funny to watch people's reactions. Needless to say, he drew a lot of attention. So the trip itself was really not as bad as I was thinking it was going to be. Thanksgiving was a little overwhelming.

There were a lot of people and he really doesn't like for people to get into his face, he would prefer to come up to you at his own pace. So he was a little out of sorts. He did get to meet his cousins. He had a good time with them. He love to play the electronic keyboard's programmed music and dance to it. He also watched A LOT of Elmo on this trip. He never watches as much as he did on this trip. I think it was an escape for him.
We decorated for Christmas, that was a lot of fun. We put the tree

up while he was napping one day. He woke up and saw this tree in the living room. He was a little shocked! It was quite funny. He did "help" us pull out the decorations, and he even helped put some ornaments on the tree. Other than that, he has really left the tree alone.

He acts like it isn't even there until the lights click on. But he still doesn't mess with it. Being the avid scrapbooker that I am....I have been trying to get pictures of him touching the tree...but he just isn't all that interested.
He has been sick lately. We took him to the doctor and we were told that he was in the beginning stages of pneumonia. So he doesn't actually have it, but close to it. This after just finishing and antibiotic for an ear infection. So we are on cough syrup and another antibiotic. Seems like it never ends! This mama is actually just coming back from this side of death herself. I had the horrible stomach crud that is going around. If you had asked me on Tues, I would have told you to order the flowers and dig the grave! It was rough...but over pretty quickly. At least the boys didn't get it (at least so far!)
Everything is progressing as normal. We have our court date on Dec 17 to re-finalize adoption and officially change his name. It will be nice to have everything final. In OKC, it can be pretty quick and we may not get a picture with the judge, but we will give it a try.
Right now, he is very into bubbles. He has always liked bubbles, but right now he is overly fascinated with them. He asks for "bub bubs" every day! He even knows where we keep them. So of course, we had to introduce him to a bubble bath! He thought that was pretty cool. It is a mixture of 2 of his favorite things....bath time and bubbles. I think Santa may be getting him a lawn mower that blows bubbles for Christmas....so he should be in Heaven!
He is a very bright child. He understands so much. He is also as stubborn as the day is long! We went out to eat last night and he didn't want the food I was giving him (which mind you was some of his favorites...green beans, bread, mac/cheese, chicken) When it came time for dessert, there was chocolate cake. Suddenly he was VERY interested. I looked at him and set out a little bit of food and said you can have some cake if you eat this or this. (giving him a choice) He shook his head and pointed to my cake...and I said...nope, you know the deal! He sat there for a while. Thought about it, and then finally decided fine...I will eat the stupid bread. He eat it with an annoyed look on his face. But he finished it all...then pointed to the cake. Today, we had Christmas pictures made, Ms. Kim told him that I would be there to pick him up after Curious George was over. When the show was over, he picked up his coat and walked to the door. He just understand so much! He still doesn't say a lot....man of few words. But I think he can say more than he lets on. I am still convinced one day he is just going to start talking in complete sentences.

We have started trying "time outs". This is his timeout stool. I know it kind of defeats the purpose to take a picture....but (scrapbook!). He is pretty funny. I can't look at him. When he gets in trouble we put him on the stool. He sits there with his head hung down to his chest and his bottom lip sticking out. The amazing part is that he stays there until we tell him he can get up. He knows he is in trouble. He may not know why all the time...but he knows what it means. I tell you......I just don't think I could love this little boy more than I do! He is the joy and the light of our lives. We are so blessed this Christmas! We are so excited and know that this holiday will be so fun. I know that God picked this precious child for us. He makes our little family complete. I can't wait for the rest of the extended family to meet him this Christmas. It should be a lot of fun. But I will say....if he thought Thanksgiving was overwhelming....wait until he sees Christmas!

Such a great post! I am so glad to read that things are going so well. I am also glad to read that Dylan is stubborn and I'm not the only mommy going through a power struggle right now! :) I LOVE the Christmas photos. This is such a wonderful Christmas!
