Changing all the Time

Our little boy is growing up! He is so much fun, he makes me laugh all the time. We are in Omaha this week visiting Nana and Papa. Of course he is having a great time. They bought him the most obnoxious car (like grandparents do). I think we aren't going to have room in the car to bring it home! He of course LOVES the horn. He hasn't figured out how to climb onto it, but he can climb off of it.

He is getting around very well now. He walks constantly at full speed. He is doing good at slowly crawling to furniture to pull himself up when he falls down. He is actually falling much better. (I know...doesn't make much sense), but he catches himself now, or falls on his bottom. I think that his therapist is going to be really surprised at how much he has changed in the last 2 weeks.

We had to come to Nebraska to experience fall! It was so nice to have a few cold days where we wore sleeves and even a jacket. The leaves are pretty right now and even starting to fall. They still have a few warm days, but nothing like what we have been experiencing. We all enjoyed the cool days and did a lot of shopping and running around. Here he is having a ball playing with his Nana while she rakes the leaves. (or tried to)

Last time we were in Omaha, you may remember we was terrified of the grass? Well, now, he LOVES being outside. He was playing in the leaves and even touching flowers, leaves, trees, grass, etc. He has changed so much.

Some of the funny things that he does:

1. He says "Bye" all the time. When someone leaves the room, or leaves the house, he says....Bye. If he is done playing in the room we are in, he walks away and says Bye! When he is tried of doing something, he says..bye bye. (kind of sad like)

2. When he is kind of tired, he gets so silly. We were in Toys R Us and he was cracking up at my mom. They were playing with a ball (that we had to buy). For some reason, when she would throw and catch the ball, he would crack up squealing so loud. I thought we were going to be kicked out of there!

3. He is starting to try new things, starting to lose his fear. Like crawling up stairs, and stepping into holes, or reaching into baskets and falling on his head. He actually slid under my parents entertainment center, don't know how he got his head under there, we almost couldn't get him out. (sorry no pic, it was kind of sad)

4. He loves playing with balls. He will scream, BALL, if he sees one.

5. He loves musical toys, or music in general. He will do his little dance when he hears it.

6. When he hears people clapping or some kind of cheering, he smiles and claps his hands. He cracked me up in a toy store. We found an American Idol Elmo book (yes, I was tempted to buy it). One of the buttons is the crowd that cheers for you when you are singing into the microphone. He pushed the button, and he started clapping. Too funny.

7. He has a great "cheesy" smile. When he is doing something cute (which he knows is cute) he will smile at you with full teeth and a wrinkled up nose!

8. When there is something he knows he is not supposed to touch, or do, he will walk up to it, point and shake his head no. Doesn't always mean he won't do it, but he knows he is not supposed to.

9. It is getting harder to get him to nap and go to bed, he hates to miss anything. He wants to be in the middle of everything and not be left out.

We are so blessed to have this sweet little boy in our lives. We love him so much! We had our final post placement visit, so now we will work on re-finalizing the adoption and officially changing his name to Dylan Thanh Race. We love our little Dylan!

You are right! I can see the twinkle in his eyes too. He doesn't look like the same child anymore... He's grown so much. His smile is so cute.
