Travel Packet

We received our travel packet today. It contains important information about travel, like hotels we will stay in, items we should bring with us, things we will do while in Vietnam, more paperwork!, and other important information. It looks like we will fly in to Ho Chi Minh City and rest the first day, then travel to Dylan's province on day two. We should see the orphanage and meet Dylan. Then on day 3, we will have the giving and receiving ceremony and he will officially be ours!

Many people have asked why will you be in Vietnam so long. Well there are several things we have to do, before we leave. We have to get a Visa and passport for Dylan. We have 3-4 docs we have to file (paperwork). There is a medical clearance for him to receive a visa. Then we will travel to Hanoi and we will have an exit interview. Since some of this paperwork takes a few days to process and due to some office hours, we end up being there 2-3 weeks.

While I am sure I will get homesick, and will totally be ready to come home at the end of the trip, I am looking forward to exploring Dylan's homeland, experiencing the culture, and I am sure by the 3rd day, I will be so happy he is ours, I won't care where we are! One thing that is going to be good, is during those 2-3 weeks, we will be able to bond as a new family. It will be nice for us to be so dependent on each other at this time. When we come home, I expect our family and friends to be excited to see us, so I am glad we can spend some quality time together as a family before we return home.

So, no travel date yet, but we are getting closer all the time!

I hope you love Vietnam! The trip does feel long at times, but it is just a wonderful place and who really gets to travel like this for any other reason? We thought it felt a lot like a honeymoon with our baby and she was doing so well by the time we flew home. Ready to meet everybody! I hope the same will be true for you. Just be prepared to miss greasy cheeseburgers and Mexican food!
