We got an email from our agency today saying that our paperwork is in Can Tho (Dylan's province). They will now start to gather his documents, called the dossier, and then send our docs and his docs to Hanoi. This can take 30-40 business days. It would be nice if this could happen in the next few weeks.
We are about to run into a bit of a delay due to Tet. Tet is the Vietnamese New Year. It is a big holiday. It starts on Feb. 18 this year and it is called the year of the pig. The national holiday lasts 3 days. It is a time for peace, forgiving, and good luck for the new year. So we will bring Dylan home in the year of the pig. I have been reading and studying up on Tet. I want to learn all that I can, so that I can teach Dylan about his heritage.
For the record, we are still buried under ice. I couldn't take it anymore, I had to get out of the house. I went to the post office, bank, and dry cleaners. The neighborhood and the parking lots are a thick 3 inch layer of ice. Very deadly to walk on. The roads still aren't very clear. Some places are better than others. Pulling in and out of parking lots is quite the task. Looks like they have tried to plow the roads, so there is a big mound of ice to cross over. I am worried that we will be stuck in the house again for another day. They haven't called off school yet, but if that sun doesn't come out, I don't see it getting much better. So pray for our paperwork to move quickly and pray that we thaw out! We are expecting more ice on the weekend. YUCK! I would rather have pretty snow!

I hope his paperwork comes together quickly. Tet is a beautiful holiday, and I love reading all about it...but it really does not bode well with our adoption processes, does it?
Please keep yourselves safe with all that ice! I will pray for a warm, sunny day :)
Congrats on your LID! We are still burried under ice, too! Will you be at the Dillon Lunar New Year dinner?
