Return to Blogging

I have decided that I am going to blog a little more often.  Honestly once a month would be more often.  Facebook has been a major distraction!  I have been totally sucked into that world.  My latest obsession is Farmville!  I have to check my crops and feed by dog!!!

But lately, I have really missed putting my random thoughts out there.  When I was little I kept a diary.  Kept it up into my teen years.  For many years, I had a blog that was just about life, rants, raves, whatever I felt like putting out there.  Then we started the process to adopt Dylan and I deserted my personal blog, to start the "adoption" blog.  Of course, once you actually have the child home...who has time to blog!!!  Plus work is busy so can't do it there :).  (I never blogged at work...really :))

So in order to feel that weird need I have to write out my crazy thoughts, I decided to bring back the blogging.  We will see how it goes.  So here are some random thoughts going on with me.

First, we have the worst neighbor behind us.  She couldn't care less about the people around her.  I say this because she has these obnoxious dogs that bark non-stop.  I am not kidding.  One is a little yippy dog.  He will go an hour at a time.  (Yip, yip, yip, yip, yip....)  so bad that you feel like putting a fork in your eye.  I have had all sorts of thoughts!  I have wanted to go over to her house and just punch the door bell, over and over and over.  I have wanted to get the waterhose and just spray down the dog until he practically drowns.  I have even felt like chunking things into her windows!  My most recent thought was I wanted to go over, ring her bell and ask her...."where did you get your sound proof windows? Did they come with the house?? I figure they must work really well if you can't hear your stupid dog all hours of the day and night!!!"  I have developed quite the hatred for that dog!  Of course my "switch" still works.  that is what I call the little thing in my brain that keeps me from reacting to my thoughts.  The impulses if you will.  I know that it is not kind to act that way, so I just stomp around my house, being mad at a dog. I turned in the complaints to the city.  She has been warned, and according to other neighbors, they have done this too. There is a bit of a catch.  You can only turn it in like 2 times, then you have to go downtown (so take off work) and sign a form (formal complaint) then it is court from there.  Seriously, who has time for that.  Which is what all of the neighbors have thought and why we are still in this position!

Well, when frustration hit at its highest, I decided to google "stop dog barking".  I thought, maybe I could find a tip, or i don't know...something other than giving the dog nyquil!  That is when Good Life entered my world!  Now don't choke when you see the price of this stupid gadget that I bought! Ultimate Bark Control
I tell you, I am desperate.  Three days ago, this little guy ended up on my door step.  Now I didn't have very high hopes.  The thing I liked is there is a 30 day money back guarantee.  I read all the reviews, comments, etc.  Shoot they even bill the thing as helping you with annoying neighbor dogs!  Everything about it screamed...."Kim here is your safe answer." Everyone said it worked....praised it. Said it made their life so much better.  It is reccommeded by vets, K9 units, saying it is humane way of stopping the annoying barking.  Those that said it didnt' work (and there were not many) said they got their money back with no problem.  So it sounded safe to me...why not.

When this little gem arrived, I set it up immediately.  It is supposed to emit a sound that only dogs can hear.  When they bark, there is a sensor and it sets off the sound.  It is supposed to train them to stop barking!  It even has a remote you can push to make it go off.  There is a setting that makes sound humans can hear as well so you can tell when it goes off.  I set the frequency as high as it would go.  That first night, probably every little bug that burped set that thing off!  But I will say...didn't hear much barking.

Day 2, the wind has been out of control.  So I decided to lower the frequency, we don't want it going off all the time.  We are trying to train the stupid dog.  Yesterday, he barked when kids were in the back yard.  but it didn't last as long.  I think (scared to say this) that it might be working.  He tried to bark last night about 11 oclock, but it ended very quickly.

Now we are on day 3.  I came home early today.  I have been home for 2 1/2 hours and guess what....that dumb dog hasn't barked once.  I am cautiously optimistic that this thing just might work!!!  We will see.

On the adoption front, we are being fingerprinted on Wed.  Our agency made a trip to Nepal.  They brought back some information that sounds like it is a move in a positive direction.  So we are moving forward.  We hope to have our paperwork to Nepal before July 15.  This will be close, and unfortunately we are depending on USCIS! So we will see.

Dylan is doing well.  His latest thing is playing Candy Land.  He really does like to play games, but you have to watch him...he will CHEAT!  I know, you are thinking how can a cute little face like this cheat?  Well...he can!

We have enrolled him for PK for next year.  Can you believe my baby is starting big school next year??  He is so grown up...and he will tell you that he is a big boy!  Even when you tell him he is a good boy...he says, no, I big boy!

This is his handsome Easter picture.  Can you believe he turns four in a couple of months!  Check in later for more update on Operation Stop Dog barking!!!
