Ok, OK, I will stop being stupid...on to other news. Last night, Dylan had his first school Christmas Program. Yes...my baby is too young to go to school, but he likes it. Let me tell you, if you have never been to a 1yr - 4 yr old program, you are missing out! He had to do a solo! He had to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I of course did not know this until I got there last night. That was just too much pressure for me. I was just trying to get him to stay on stage...I didn't know we had a solo to worry about. I mean the teacher told us to practice the song, but I thought everyone was practicing it! Anyway. He did, pretty good. I am going to walk you through how it went. (WARNING: Graphic Information Ahead....) Sorry if the photos are crummy, I cut out other kids to protect the innocent.
He walks onto stage. Thinking to himself...hmmm...what are we doing? We have practiced this a million times, but I have never seen all these people here. Why are they all looking at us and saying "AWWWWW"?
And what happened to mom, dad, Nana, and Papa, I thought they were here?
OH, there she is...mama, mama??? Are you coming up here??
Waaaa....Mama, why aren't you coming up here to get me!!! This goes on for about 10 min. Teacher comes up and wipes his nose, tells him he is ok. He remains unconvinced. He continues to pout and cry a little. He is sucking in his lower lip really trying to be a trooper, but not quite understanding why everyone has to clap after EACH kid's solo. Yes, you read that right, every kid had their own solo! (THIS is going to take forever.) Sheer torture for my little sensitive guy.
So, teacher is not paying attention to me anymore. She is failing to wipe my nose for me...hmmm...what's this? What is on my finger? Looking at it...trying to flick it off the finger, hmmmm....what should I do? (YOU KNOW where this is going......seriously.....you do.)
Mama and Daddy are in the audience....please don't put it in your mouth...come on buddy, don't do it!
All together now......EWWWWWW!!!!! NOOOOOOOO......he did it! Yes.....my son...and they thought he didn't have any talent! I mean..seriously, has your child ever sat on a stage in front of God and everyone and ate his boogers?
Of course, the scrapbooking mom is thankful her camera cooperated and she got the pictures!!! Do they make booger stickers?
Here it is...the BIG solo! He did it!!! Ok, so he didn't actually sing, there were no words, no sounds...but no crying, no screaming, no running off the stage! He did it, he stared his teacher down, looking into her eyes while she smiled and sang Twinkle, Twinkle. Mom and dad were in the audience, singing twinkle twinkle at the top of their lungs. HE DID IT!
Now that the solo is over and we still have several solos left to sit through, the stress is too much. No one is coming to save me...I am on my own. So, where do I find comfort? In my little thumb! I am tired, I did it, I did it myself. Poor little guy.
The final bow! He did it. We were SO proud. He was the most adorable booger eater you have ever seen in your life! It took about a thousand pictures of the little guy, he just stared at me I am sure thinking...why are you torturing me. And one day (when I pull out the blackmailing photos) I will say.....honey.....it was all for the scrapbook! Mama has a sickness, she loves to scrapbook!
His teacher came up to us afterwards, she said, he did it. He didn't leave the stage, he didn't sing, but he didn't cry. She said, did you even see him participate in some of the songs? (Well, of course I did, but you missed the BIG performance) We will just leave that one out. She doesn't need to know EVERYTHING! We are proud, this boy would not have stayed on the stage 2 mos ago. He would have completely melted down. He has come so far! My brave little boy is growing up. He comes out of his shell a little more every day. It just takes some time, he still has his insecure moments, but as I tell him everyday...Mama always comes BACK! I LOVE this little guy. We are SO blessed. I hope you all have a VERY MERRY Christmas. It is a season of blessings, so be kind to one another! May God bless you all as richly as he has blessed us!
(I am making a New Year's Resolution to try and blog more often, that is if I can give up a little bit of my facebook addiction!)

Oh Kim that is hysterical! That's even better than the year my Noah stood up there and danced the potty dance while holding his privates the whole time. :-) Of course, it has to go in the scrapbook. Sickness, what sickness???? :-) There is no scrapbooking sickness, I don't know what you're talking about. :-)
He looks so grown up in those pictures!
OK...I'm laughing so hard my co-workers had to come and check on me. Too funny.
Hey...I'm excited for the twin bed progress. We're at 2 years and still in our bed. No end in sight :(
Merry Christmas!
