Vietnam Family Reunion

Well, we attended the 1st Vietnam Family Reunion this weekend in Tulsa and it was Great!! How cool to actually meet these families in person. We feel like we all know each other because of the blogs. I guess you never really stop to think about how much you can learn from reading someone's journal. There were several families there, and I wish we could have stayed longer. But we were excited to return home because 1 of my cousins and my aunt and uncle were in town and wanted to meet Dylan. So that was nice. He of course showed off, smiling, playing and being silly.

Dylan is doing well, I think he has a bit of a cold and he is of course, teething! But other than that, things are going well. He is still going to physical therapy. I think he is making progress. The only thing that bothers me, is that he prefers to be on his back scooting across the floor. I guess because he knows he can get around that way. I am constantly trying to get him to roll over on his belly. He won't stay that way long, he prefers to be on his feet, but lacks the balance to stay that way. The therapist says she sees a lot of improvement and is pleased with his progress, so that is good. He is staring to get a bit of a belly, it is so cute and nice to see. He is eating very well, and starting to eat real foods. He loves mac and cheese, and guacamole. He has eaten flour tortillas, beans, peas, carrots, mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets, and of course french fries and ice cream. (but we don't have that ever often) One of his favorite foods is that yo baby yogurt with fruit and cereal. He eats that stuff up!
He has been a lot noisier than usual. He is jabbering all the time. He can get pretty loud. He also started saying DADA this week. As you can imagine....DADA is thrilled! One funny thing that he has started doing a lot, is that when he is sitting on the floor, he will look at either Mark or I and wave to us. Everytime he looks at us, he waves. Even while he is eating. It is pretty cute and makes me laugh.

We got together and played with Cole and Zak last week. The boys are starting to interact a little bit with each other. You know, taking toys away from each other, knocking each other down...stuff like that! This week we are expecting more family in town, we are playing with Zak and Cole and we have therapy. This weekend, all 3 families are getting together for a cookout (the daddies are getting jealous) and we head to Nana and Papa's house. So that should be fun to see how he does on an 8 hour drive. I am thinking mama may have to spend some time riding in the back seat!

I thought I would end with a big cheesy grin from my little boy. The four teeth he has are showing up and he is now working on number 5 maybe 6 too, not real sure. He won't let me check. He has a stubborn streak!

So cute! I read a great article after Hannah was born about 20/20 hindsight. The mom said she was so nervous because her (then) baby didn't walk until 17 months but had just graduated from an Ivy league school. As a baby he had terrible separation anxiety and as a young adult moved 3000 miles across the country whistling and skipping the whole way. When Dylan graduates from Harvard or the Harvard of the south (UT) :) you can tease him about his back crawl. Love, Amy H.
