Too Cute for Words!

Dylan is doing wonderful! It was fun to watch him change this week. He is starting to get braver. He is trying new things and it makes us laugh! He is starting to feel comfortable around strangers. He will let people hold him, but he always looks for mama to make sure she is nearby. He is smiling at new people too. Which just didn't happen a month ago. Just ask the families that traveled with us, you had to work to get a smile out of this boy. Now he gives them away for free!

He loves bath time! He splashes and kicks his feet. He even has started pouring water out of his little cup. He loves his bath toys too.
He has started waving a lot! If someone waves to him, he will wave back. In fact, he has started waving to Mark and I sometimes when we walk into the room. It takes a little while with strangers before he will wave, but he will do it if I help him out and then he waves like crazy.

He is also starting to recognize when something is going to happen. For instance, Mark plays rocket ship with him. He counts down 3-2-1 and then lifts him into the air. When Dylan hears 3-2-1, he starts smiling because he knows what is coming. He also is starting to understand the concept of kisses. He doesn't give them, but he is always willing to get them. When I hold him and say....give me kisses, he leans his head in for a kiss. (He gets LOTS of them) He is also really starting to recognize his name. When my parents talk to him on the phone, he hears his name and starts smiling. He has started babbling a lot. He says mum mum...all the time. Mark is frantically trying to teach him to say DADA. (insert big smile from mum...mum here!)

He got his first haircut today! I know...many of you will be mad at me, but he is really cute. He did really well, and was facinated with Christy. He kept turning his head and looking at her. Of course his favorite part was the big mirror! He loves mirrors and looking at himself. He has started recognizing himself in pictures and laughs. Here is the before picture.

Here is the "during" picture.

Here is after! He looks like a little boy! Maybe people will stop calling him a girl!

Our doctor referred us to a pediatric physical therapist due to him being delayed in things like crawling, pulling up, etc. We went to see her this week. She was great! She really thinks he will catch up pretty quickly. He is a pretty active kid and she thinks that once we get some meat on his bones and his body is a bit bigger, that he will start crawling in no time. She is going to work with him once a week.

She also told us some things that we can do at home. One thing was to buy this bumbo chair. He loves it! He acts like a little man, he sits in it and watches TV! Yes, wouldn't you know that a child of mine loves TV. He actually watched American Idol with me, Mark just rolled his eyes! We watch Sesame Street every morning (that is how mommy gets a shower) and we watch Blue's Clues.
I am LOVING being at home with him, I think I am going to cry when I have to go to work. We have a great time, he is adjusting so well. His first birthday is coming up, I went and bought supplies for him. They were out of some of the cups I wanted, and the girl said, you could get a solid color cup and save some money. I said....it's his first birthday, I don't want to save money! (I know that will change....but we splurged for this birthday) It is going to be a Sesame Street Theme! He really likes Elmo and Ernie! Well, that is it for now. Will try to update again soon.

He is so cute and sounds like he has the sweetest personality. You know, Sarah was very delayed when we brought her home. We used Sooner Start (free service) and it was awesome. Avi Joy's parents also used it for her. Just an idea....since it is FREE! :) Let me know if you want more info on it.

Isn't the Bumbo chair fabulous? I love them!

I think Dylan's haircut is adorable! If he has hair anything like Owen, you will need to schedule your next appt in 4-5 weeks! hehehe!

Glad you are having so much fun! Enjoy every second of it - there is no more special time than when it is just you three at home!

Our biological son was really slow to stand and walk. Our pediatrician recommended some of the PlaySchool toys that are stand-up tables. The kids have to pull up in order to be able to play, but they are really rewarded with lots of fun lights and sounds and actions when they do. Our son loved them, and they did wonders for increasing his leg strength quickly. (Now at four, we can't keep him still!) I know that you new parents can't possibly stand buying this little guy new toys, so I thought that I would give you the suggestion for some guilt-free shopping (it's therapy for all of you, after all!) Besides, with that birthday coming up....
