Been Home a Week...

...And things are going well. The sleeping is getting much better. We have been pushing to keep Dylan up until at least 8:00. We finally got there. He wakes up once or twice in the night. Usually for a bottle. Then this morning he slept until 7:30!!! We are starting to get on a schedule, so things are starting to work out. He is feeling better, still has a cough (both a real cough and a fake cough!) If you aren't paying attention to him, he will "fake" cough and then smile real big.

He is turning into a ham too! Those of you that have been following might remember that in Vietnam, everytime I tried to take a picture, he would get all serious, well now he is starting to smile for the camera!

Also, he is sitting up SO well. He is not crawling or walking, but he does this funny thing where he lays on his back and bounces his rear up and down to move himself across the floor. He gets around pretty good! The doctor has set us up with a pediatric physical therapist to work with his delay. So maybe we will have him crawling or walking in no time.

We go back to the doctor on Monday. Hopefully he has gained a couple of ounces. He has been eating really well! He has also started eating puffs. Before, he would not take any kind of solid food, but the boy is starting to get braver. He also will not drink water out of a bottle any more. He is a BIG BOY, he will drink it out of a sippy cup! He won't hold it on his own and drink it, he will just pour it out, but if you hold it, he will drink it pretty well. It is so crazy to think how much he has changed since leaving the orphanage! Tuesday will be 4 weeks! I can't believe it.

He also loves his jumper! I tried to catch him jumping and laughing, but the flash distracted him. One of the things he loves to do when he is on his feet (whether it is standing in your lap or on the floor) is start bouncing! So we put him in the bouncer and as soon as he figured out how it worked, he went to town! He bounces and laughs! He is just the cutest thing! I can't imagine life without him!
I have his cold! All these years of teaching in elementary school, I had built up my immune system, but it has been a while since I have taught kids and it took no time for me to catch his cold! Of course it doesn't help that everytime I pick him up he wipes his nose on my shirt, or that I wipe his nose with my hand if there isn't a rag available. So I guess the cold was inevitable! I am not feeling too well today, so it has been a lazy day for us. Just some laundry and hanging out. Will let you know how the doctor appointment goes! Hopefully we will find out he has gained weight. Last week he weighed 14 lbs 10 oz! Little bitty guy. The bad part is that he will have to start getting shots and bloodwork done, so that won't be fun. Wish us luck! We could use some prayers for all of us....I think my parents caught his cold too!

Ok Kim...I am going to have to talk to you about that shirt - Is that really necessary? He is too cute to be wearing that! ha ha I am so glad to hear about all of his fast progress. I miss my other Can Tho boys every day. I hope we get together again soon. Love ya!

What a little sweetheart! So glad things are going well. I wouldn't worry too much about his motor delays. When we adopted Ava at 10 months old she couldn't walk, crawl or even sit by herself yet. She was sitting within a couple of days, crawling within the first month and took her first steps at 13 mos. They are SO resilient and it's amazing what happens when someone takes the time to work with them to build those little muscles!
