Lots of Pictures

Well, it was just another day of exploring HCMC. We started the day with breakfast at the KimDo. They really do have good breakfast. Although, I have had more eggs in the past week than I think I have had in my whole life! Dylan is doing very well sitting in high chairs. He is eating so well! He pretty much eats any baby food I put into his mouth. He has about 4 full bottles a day, and then has 2 jars of baby food! (sometimes, only a 1/2 a jar.)
After breakfast and a phone call to my parents, we decided to go explore the market! You see the building here, it just looks like any old building, but walk inside and it is a different world! There are so many vendors, that it was overstimulation for me! The smells were so different, there was all kinds of food. So many people were grabbing my arm, dragging me to their booth, saying "madam....you buy!" I was completely overwhelmed and a little freaked! But we did buy some nice gifts and will be going back.

We have gotten really good at crossing streets. You have to just walk out into the street and the motor bikes will drive around you. But when it comes to cars and buses, you have to wait, or they will run right over you. It is so strange because there really aren't many crosswalk signs. You just have to go for it. There really is no way to be prepared, you have to experience it to fully understand.

Every now and then, at a busy interesection, there are little guys (I assume they are cops or something, not really sure) that will walk out into the street and blow the whistle for people to stop and let us walk across. Because as you can see in this picture, it is very busy. Yes, we have crossed in traffic like this!
On the way back from the market, we pass by a little shop that had the most beautiful wood cut-outs. They are amazing. I picked up this sign with pooh and tigger for Dylan's Door. The picture just does not do it justice.

This man, cut out the letters with a little hand saw while we stood and watched him. It was amazing! They has us write down what we wanted and then he wrote on the little plank, took the saw and just sawed it out by just turning it around. It is hard to describe, but you can see above, he did a great job. You should have seen the amazing pieces he had. We also bought a large one that is a cut out of Vietnam with Hanoi and Saigon on it. Thought that was great, since that is the 2 main places we will visit.

After the market, we returned to the hotel room to cool off and take a nap. Well, you can see how that went! This boy will NOT nap! He will sleep through the night like 8-9 hours, but I can't get but about 20 mins out of him for a nap, and that is usually on the walk back from somewhere. He just loves to play and is turning into quite the wiggle worm! We can't even keep him still any more to change his diaper. He just scoots around on his back and bounces around. He is so funny!

At 3:00, the guys went to pick up passports, so we decided to have some play time in my room. Cole and Zak came up and we all sat on the bed and tried to play. What we find so interesting, is while these boys have lived together pretty much their whole life, they really don't interact with each other much. The longer we sat there, the more they started to kind of interact.
After play time, we all headed to Lemon Grass to have some dinner. It is a Vietnamese Restaurant just across the street a little ways from the hotel. I made the mistake of getting sauteed ginger chicken. Guess what it is sauteed in.......FISH SAUCE!!! YUCK I cannot describe how this tastes. I think people that even like fish, don't like it too much, but for someone who hates fish...you can imagine. So I got something else, and it was a winner. It was grilled chicken in Chili sauce. Very spicy, but VERY good! Everyone really liked the food, it was a winner. Thomas had reccommended it to us and it was a winner. So families ready to travel....remember....The Lemon Grass. After dinner, we came back and had bath time. He LOVES the bath. He is a slickery little devil when he gets all soaped up. When I wash his WILD hair, he just laughs! I pour a glass of water over his head and he just looks up and laughs at me. He is so cute! Have I told you how much we love this little boy!
We are trying to plan a trip to the beach this weekend for 3 of the families. So far we have struck out, we will let you know what happens. If I disappear for 1 day, then you know we made it to the beach! We miss everyone and we love you all. Can't wait for you to meet our beautiful happy baby boy. (did I say how much we love this little guy?!!!) --Signing off in Saigon! (I actually stayed awake until 8:00 pm!!!)

I love the picture of the 3 boys playing. I've become quite the blog junkie and feel like I know the other families too! You all look so happy.

Sorry about the fish sauce, but I'm terribly jealous you've gotten to eat some great "ethnic" food. I hope you do get to go to the beach, and I'll look forward to hearing how much Dylan loves it.

Oh - I sent pics to practically the whole district and have gotten several really neat responses. Everyone thinks Dylan is precious and that you all look so happy together!

Great pictures! I have LOVED following your jouney. By the way we are thinking about flying the same airline as you did. Did you like it? Was it comfy? As comfy as a long flight would be. would you do it again? Post of my blog if you have time! HA!
