Physical & Emotional Care Class

We had a really good class on Saturday. We woke up VERY early and drove to Tulsa. We were able to visit the Dillon offices, they are very nice by the way. In the class there were about 4 couples and a single girl. We were able to meet Tricia and her husband Kirk. They are adopting from Vietnam and are in about the same place as we are. We were fingerprinted on the same day, but they are still waiting on that 171H. The other couples were adopting from China, India, and Haiti.

Rebecca, the lady that taught the class, was very nice and shared a lot of good information. Some things they covered, were things we already know, but a lot of it was helpful. I am now starting to wonder if we are going to be able to get everything we will need over to Vietnam.

We also talked a lot about the adjustment period we could be dealing with. Plus I know some people have heard Mark say that no one can hold the baby at first. Well, Rebecca did say we should be the primary care givers for a first few months, which I have told Mark we can control this by staying home and not going out much at first. But he has been pretty stern about it. Well, we finally got to the root of his feelings, he is worried about not attaching to our baby because of his job. He is afraid that with him gone 3-4 days a week, he will have problems. I told him not to worry, because he will be daddy. I even told him, if there are problems, I am sure he could take off some time and stay home. I know he has a lot of his own issues because of his lack of a relationship with his dad. So I am sure that is some of it too.

Anyway, it was a good class, and now on with the waiting.
