Day 98 - Elmo?

So to say the boy is a "man of routine" is putting it mildly.  We have so many routines, that basically is what most parents do because that is just how smooth household tend to run.  I ran my classroom by routine and the kids flourished.  They always knew what to expect.  In fact if I was ever gone, thing ran smoothly (or as smoothly as they can with a sub) because the kids knew what to do.  So we have our routines.  We don't deviate from these routines, because it is not pretty.  Although, he is much better at that, as long as we give him a little Prep before.  But when it comes to bedtime, that is one routine that he does not like to mess with.  It is difficult if we stay somewhere else.  He has an order and we have to stick to it.

One routine we started long ago (now don't judge me), is he is allowed to watch one of his shows on his DVD player before he goes to sleep.  I know....good parents read to their child!  We read...just not before bed.  The reason we started this routine was because we couldn't get him in his bed.  this got him sleeping in his bed!  A MUST!  So here we have it....it is set.  When he was late 2, early 3 he would watch Elmo.  Then is moved to Blue's Clues.  We went through a phase of Diego.  But we always came back to blues clues.  Also, he tends to watch the same one each night.  Well...as of late, we are back to Elmo.  It reminds me of when he was 2.  Good memories.  And we are switching it up.  Different movie (show) each night.  One day he will grow out of this routine...right???

Did that really get him to sleep in his bed? We still have that battle. I'm thinking now that I weigh less I might actually fit in the toddler bed. I'm sure I would get a better nights sleep. LOL!!

I'm pretty mellow about sleep...I don't care where anyone sleeps, as long as EVERYONE sleeps. Sissy is still in a crib and never wants to sleep anywhere else unless she doesn't feel good. WB was like that too (I think it is because I keep them in cribs so long! LOL) Now that he's older, he always wants to sleep on the sofa...ugh! I don't fight it though...as long as he sleeps!!

Julie, he still ends up in our bed, but we get about 3-4 sometimes all night sleep before he shows up. Leigh, we don't fight too much, but he wouldn't even start out in his bed...so at minimum he is in his bed until 1:00....most the time around 2 or 3.
