Day 27- We Interrupt the Regularly Scheduled Program

So today, no cute pictures, nothing witty to say.  But I have a rant, and it's my blog so I will gripe if I want to. (sounds like a song!)  If any of my friends from work read this blog, sorry....but this may hurt a little.

Today was ONE of THOSE days.  You know that last forever and you keep waiting for it to end.  Well, we work in a district with a lot of technology, and we are pretty secure too.  I mean come on, we are dealing with very important, valuable data.  I would like to think my kid's school is this secure (doubt it).  Anyway, everyone has a login to the computer.  It is their name.  That is pretty standard procedure out in the world (right?)  Well, up until now, we have had the computers set to where it held your login (name) in the field.  But our computers are frozen (basically have a program that keeps everything on the computer and everytime you shut down, it goes back to the way it was before)  It is basically for secure reasons.  If someone gets a virus, can just shut down and it is gone.  Helps with management, especially when there are only 2 techs and 3 helpers.

Well, when we work on these computers, the login will change.  Plus we have had several accounts getting locked.  Basically 2 things are probably happening.  Staff members are forgetting their password and you only get 5 tries, or student/or someone else, are trying to guess the password.  Today, we decided to clear out the username.  So basically the first time you login, you have to type your name.

Long story short (i know..too late), you just come in type your name, type your password.  We do it in programs everyday, mutliple times a day.  For whatever reason, there was an uproar.  People are mad that they have to type their name....seriously??!!!  Type your name???  Are you kidding me????  I swear I wanted to send out a mass email with a link to Mavis Beacon Typing and tell them BUY IT, WHINY BABIES!  Of course I didn't.

Some days it takes all I have to go in to work.  What happened to people treating each other kindly, speaking with nice words instead of harsh.  What happened to people being grateful for the things they have.  I mean, go to other parts of the world, people have it rough, we are spoiled rotten!!!  I am sure there are people out there who wish the worst thing they can think to complain about is OH NO I have to type my name EVERY day!!! 

Ok, sorry, it just had to get off my chest.  We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming!
