It's Official

Finally, Dylan is legally Dylan on paper! We went to court on Monday and we re-finalized his adoption. He did really well, we had to wait for an hour because there was an emergency custody situation. But he did fine until about 45 min in, he wanted a snack. Of course, this mother of the year, left the snacks in the car because this is supposed to be like a 2 min process. So super Daddy ran down to the car, fed the meter and got snacks for the boy. Once we got into the court room, it did only take 2 min. He was a nice judge, he just didn't say much, signed the papers and let us take a picture. But scrapbooker Mommy is happy to have the great picture. Now we just need to wait forever to pick up his new birth certificate and get his SS number and we are in business.
So while I am on the topic, I would like to rant for a minute about our government. I find it amazing that we can go over to Vietnam, we can get a passport, visa, 2 interviews, a medical check, etc end up with a stack of paper work and it all takes 3 weeks. (keep in mind, we were delayed by 3 days of holidays) Yet, I need 2 pieces of paper and I apparently will have to wait almost 2 hours in line for the 1st one (which I need in order to obtain the 2nd one). Then, I have to drive to the other place, wait for almost another 2 hours and don't even get the paper...wait for another 2-4 weeks. Gotta love our government! While I am bashing them....how about the citizenship certificate. It has his Vietnamese name on it....(forget the fact that all the paperwork showed what his American name would be) but they issue it with the Vietnamese name..now requiring us to PAY all the money like you do to get the citizenship paper just to change the name. Seriously....who is in charge here! I think I will leave this subject before it turns into Republican vs Democrat.
We are finally getting over sickness at our house! Again...will not win mother of the year.....we are having some sleep issues in our house (which basically means...I am not getting any). So, I put Dylan in his bed and let him cry. I finally decided to go in and check on him and what did I find. The poor boy had vomit all over him, his bed, everything...plus when I stripped him down...he had diarrhea as well! Yes folks...the judge still signed the papers...I left that part out! I felt like such a loser. Poor baby had that horrible virus that is going around. I had it and I can tell you I thought I was going to die. But he is better now. Just trying to fight off a little cold. His appetite is back (poor kid was wasting away). He is eating like a Champ again, so that makes me feel better.
We are very excited about Christmas. Nana, Papa, and Uncle Steve are on their way to our house, so let the festivities begin. I hope you all have a Merry, Merry Christmas...I know we will!

Congrats on finally being official! I am certainly looking forward to that day, but like you I am not looking forward to the Certificate of Citizenship fee. Somehow I thought we'd be done with paperwork (and fees) once Reagan was in our arms. When will it ever end?! Probably just about the time we want to adopt again =).
Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
