No Sleep, More Poop, Silly Boy....Oh my!

Well, we had a sleepless night! Guess that goes with having a new baby boy. He was up at 10:45, 12:00, 2:00, and 6:00. This mamma is about to collapse! Today is a low pressure day. We purchased our tickets to Hanoi. We leave tomorrow at 2:00. We will be there at least through Wednesday. We are hoping to make a trip to Ha Long Bay. It is supposed to be beautiful! We are also hoping that it will be a bit cooler in Hanoi.

So we learned something new yesterday, we now wave hello and goodbye! It is TOO cute! He of course waves backwards, the way he sees it when we wave. He waved to me for the first time yesterday morning and then he was giving them away freely by the afternoon to Kathryn, and Kerrie. Today, we were walking downstairs and there was a maid mopping the floor. She was oohing and awing over him and waved to him. He looked right at her and did his backwards wave. She just laughed and laughed. It was too cute! So what Mark failed to tell you about the Medical Check on Wednesday is that Dylan went ballistic! He hated every minute of the check. When I put him in the scale, he screamed bloody murder! I haven't seen him that scared since the first day we met him at the orphanage. They tried to measure his length and head circumference. They took off his clothes and looked him over! He was going nuts. The nurse said to me.....he knows you....he is calling you mamma in Vietnamese! My heart just melted! He knows his mamma!!!! When I picked him up, all crying stopped. So life was ok again.

I don't know if I have shared but Dylan has had a rough time with his tummy for the first few days. We actually went 3 days without pooping! We thought we were going to have to buy a suppository. Try explaining that one to a Vietnamese person!!! Kerrie was at the store trying to tell them what we wanted...sorry I missed that one. But finally the last 3 days, we have moved regularly. So looked like he is adjusted to the new foods. I am sure it is because we introduced him to baby food. We have not found anything that this kid won't eat! Which is great, he needs to EAT! He is 14.5 lbs and the nurse kept saying...he malnourished. Like it was my fault! I kept thinking....I promise I feed him, I have only had him for 8 days!

Yesterday, we had our Immigration Interview. All is well. Just asked a few questions, says we should be good to go today. We are hoping that we will have our Visa Interview in Hanoi on Tuesday, which could put us leaving on Wednesday night. We will see.

Last night we went to dinner with the Dillon Staff. We had traditional Vietnamese food. It was all good. Believe it or not, I ate Shrimp Spring Rolls! I don't know if it is because I am so hungry by the time we eat or what! We pretty much only eat twice a day, because the boys nap time (although, Dylan is NOT a good napper) is usually during lunch time. Hence, I have lost some weight! I am sure I have lost 5 lbs if not more. Which is great, but a lot of my pants are not fitting so well. They tend to slip off me! But I am ok with that. We are thinking about vacationing here each year, just so we can lose weight!

Last night, we had 3 birthdays to celebrate. I have some pictures below. We all had a good time, and even though it was WAY past the boy's bedtimes, they all did really well. My next post should be from Hanoi. This is our last night to enjoy Ho Chi Minh City. It has been great, but we are ready for the change of scenery! Love you all. Hope to see you REAL soon!

Kim - If you can, check your e-mail today.
I cannot wait to see you. Does this mean if you leave Wed, you are still on track for Friday or will it be Thursday?

Kim,
I'm afraid that you will have lots of sleepless nights. However, it's all worth it.:) Sometimes at night was the best bonding time.

Oh - The doctor appts. are awful when they have to get shots. I always made Gary take them.:) :)

Not getting any sleep? Hmmm...sounds familiar! :) I know that can be agonizing, but some of the most precious moments occur in the middle of the night!

I love the pictures of the birthday party. Looks like you had a great time...and now you're on to another adventure in Hanoi! I'll look forward to hearing all about that, too.

Let us know for sure when your plane will land. We can't wait to see you all and meet your new little wonder!

Kim-
I have checked your blog almost every day. I am so excited for you and Mark! Dylan is adorable! Calling you mama in Vietnamese just melted my heart as I'm sure it did yours! Congratulations!

Ok, I'm so distressed to see Thomas dressed in so much maroon. I mean, seriously! We tried to counter balance it with orange, but all you darn Sooner people keep interfering.... Tell Kerrie I have a bone to pick with her! :)

Well, your son is so cute. Sorry you aren't getting much sleep. Believe me, we aren't getting much here either! That's why sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture. Don't worry. He'll gain weight and start sleeping soon.
